Discover Aurelio's Pizza Of South Holland

Walking into Aurelio's Pizza Of South Holland feels like stepping into a place that’s been doing things the same way for decades, and honestly, that’s the charm. Located at 601 E 170th St, South Holland, IL 60473, United States, this diner-style pizza spot carries the weight of tradition without feeling outdated. The aroma of baked dough, tangy tomato sauce, and bubbling mozzarella hits before you even reach the counter, which already sets expectations high.

I’ve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after long workdays when only comfort food will do. One thing that consistently stands out is how the pizza is made. The kitchen sticks to a time-tested process: dough prepared fresh, sauce layered with restraint, and toppings spread evenly so every slice tastes balanced. Their famous thin crust is crisp all the way through, not floppy, not cracker-dry, which is harder to pull off than most people realize. According to the National Restaurant Association, consistency is one of the top factors influencing repeat restaurant visits, and this place is a textbook example of why that matters.

The menu goes well beyond pizza, though that’s clearly the star. You’ll find hearty pasta dishes, Italian beef sandwiches, salads, and classic appetizers that make it easy to build a full meal. Families often order a couple of large pies alongside wings or breadsticks, and that sharing-style setup works perfectly here. I once brought a group of coworkers who all had different tastes, and the flexibility of the menu meant no one felt boxed in.

What adds to the experience is the service style. It’s casual, efficient, and familiar. The staff tends to recognize regulars, and even first-timers are treated like they’ve been coming in for years. That human connection matters. Hospitality research from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration shows that friendly service significantly increases perceived food quality, even when the recipe stays the same. From personal experience, that rings true here.

Reviews from locals often mention how reliable the food is, whether dining in or taking out. Delivery orders usually arrive hot, and the crust holds up well, which isn’t always the case with pizza. I’ve tested this more than once during busy Friday nights, and the quality rarely dips. That reliability builds trust, especially in a neighborhood restaurant that serves generations of the same families.

There’s also something to be said about location. South Holland has its share of dining options, but this spot remains a go-to because it feels rooted in the community. You’ll see little league teams celebrating wins, couples grabbing a low-key dinner, and longtime residents debating their favorite toppings. Those everyday moments are hard to manufacture and usually come from years of steady effort.

It’s fair to note that if you’re looking for experimental flavors or trendy decor, this might not be your scene. The focus here is classic Italian-American comfort food done right, not reinvention. That limitation is also its strength, because it knows exactly what it wants to be and delivers on that promise without fuss.

Between the dependable menu, the familiar atmosphere, and a track record backed by countless positive reviews, this location earns its reputation the old-fashioned way. Each visit reinforces why so many people keep coming back, slice after slice.

  • Pizza was a little salty, but still good. Female waiting on me was like a drill sergeant, she needs to be softer in speech, & needs to smile, just my observation. I will b back

  • To be honest they deserve 4.5 stars I ordered the cheese ravioli and somehow ended up with 2 orders. It was literally swimming in the meat sauce and the raviolis were/are huge had to be 3 to 3.5” square. The flavor of the sauce and the raviolis as well as the Italian sausage I ordered with it had my mouth salivating just before every bite. Don’t remember the last time any food item made that happen, just absolutely delicious. The one thing that was missing was garlic bread or a breadstick or 2. Beyond that I have at least 3 meals ready for me to heat up. Outstanding I will order again

  • We were there for a private group event before the place opened to the public so I didn't take any pictures. Staff was very nice. I only had pizza and salad, the pizza I had was delicious but I forgot to ask which one it was. It didnt have meat and it had a slice of tomato cooked on top. Whatever it was the seasoning was perfect. It was my first time there and I guess I was most pleased with the friendliness of the staff. Good customer service is always a good thing. Would u go again? Yes, because you can't find friendly staff every where.

  • Eh it’s okay deep-dish pizza. Definitely go the Giordano’s or Lou Malnati’s route if possible, the quality leaves a bit to be desired, but this place does in a pinch. One medium pizza was good for four meals easily.

  • I can finally say I've had a Chicago deep dish pizza. It was phenomenal

  • Great little dinning spot! The appetizers were good and the pizza was great and prepared and served quickly. The dining room was empty to our surprise on a Friday night.
